What it does
You can connect with community service opportunities depending on what you want to focus on in your area (ex: soup kitchens, animal shelters, clothing drives, etc.) and you can register through the app with links to the website of the organizations. Finally, log your hours to a final goal. Built for NYC Teens who want to volunteer and earn service hours..
What a real user taught us
Jacob suggested I add a form for organizations to suggest themselves to be added to the map, so I did that along with giving a form for users to suggest opportunities to add.
A safety issue we fixed
I added a login to keep someone's hours to themselves rather than them being shared with every user on the platform.
What we would build next
I would add a calendar feature so that users could check off what services they've done through the map and set up a notification system to remind people if they committed to something or if they scheduled to work at the same place every week.
